CWA Daggers 2018: Winners announced

I’ve just returned from a short trip to London for the CWA Daggers awards do last night, recognising the best in crime fiction from the last year.

It was a great night – a room full of authors, agents, publishers, journalists and crime fiction fans.

CWA Steel Dagger shortlist: Interview with the Ian Fleming estate

As I’ve mentioned before, If I Die Before I Wake has been shortlisted for an annual award given by the British Crime Writers’ Association for best thriller of the year.

It’s still a bit surreal to write that sentence!

The award is called the Steel Dagger and is sponsored by the estate of Ian Fleming.

The Fleming estate emailed me recently and asked me a few questions – here’s the little interview on their website.

Bestseller alert!

Today If I Die Before I Wake is proudly sporting a jazzy orange flag on Amazon, because it is a NUMBER ONE BESTSELLER!

The rankings go up and down depending on prices and offers etc but I’ll take my successes where I can get them. Who knows how long it will last, but I am pretty chuffed to see it as number one in the “medical thrillers” section today.

I loved (and still love) them to bits but jeez, they could spend hours talking about things I had zero understanding of. Weird medical conditions, hospital politics, F2s and ST1s and …. yada yada yada.

If I Die Before I Wake shortlisted for The CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger

If I Die Before I Wake has made it onto the shortlist for the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger.

I am still bouncing around with excitement after finding out last night – I’ve been lucky to have an amazing response from my readers far and wide already, so to be recognised like this within the industry as well is mindblowing. Hard work pays off, I guess?

An evening at The Bath Festival with Guy Gunaratne and Kim Sherwood

I’ve had a quieter few weeks cracking on with book two (I’m 25% through the first draft!) so it was lovely to get out to chat about If I Die Before I Wake again this week.

I did an event as part of The Bath Festival with fellow debut authors Guy Gunaratne and Kim Sherwood and we had a great evening discussing our roads to publication, our writing processes, inspirations and everything else in between.
