If I Die Before I Wake has made it onto the shortlist for the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger.
I am still bouncing around with excitement after finding out last night – I’ve been lucky to have an amazing response from my readers far and wide already, so to be recognised like this within the industry as well is mindblowing. Hard work pays off, I guess?
I gave a talk on researching for fiction at last night’s Novel Nights event in Bristol (which was so much fun, thank you if you were there I loved every minute of it) and when I finished chatting to people afterwards I checked my phone… and there were loads of tweets about the CWA Daggers shortlist announcement. I was – and still am – gobsmacked.
I took the morning off to celebrate this, and the other big news of the week – I’ve finished my first draft of book two! I cycled 20km through my beautiful hometown of Bristol and am currently feeling pretty much on top of the world.
Roll on the CWA awards do in October – keep your fingers crossed for me, although I would be very surprised if my book gets any further, considering the excellent competition.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me, supporting me and reading.
