This Privacy Notice explains how Emily Koch, SquareSpace and MailerLite process personal information provided by you and outlines your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation.

WHAT IS PERSONAL INFORMATION?

‘Personal information’ refers to any information that can identify you, for example your name, email address and physical address.

WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION DOES THIS SITE COLLECT?

If you sign up for my VIP Readers Club newsletter, this site will record your email address, name, IP address and location (the country you’re in when you sign up - not your full address).

When subscribers click on a link in one of my emails or fill out a form, the site may also record this information.

If you enter a giveaway, your email address is collected. If you win a physical prize, you will be asked to give your name and physical address.

This website may use “cookies” to enhance visitor experience. Typically, cookies may be placed on visitors' hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. Visitors may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to send an alert when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the site may not function properly.

WHAT NON-PERSONAL INFORMATION WILL THIS SITE COLLECT?

This website may collect non-personal information about visitors when they interact with the site. This information may include the browser name, means of connection to the site, and other non-identifying information.

HOW IS THE INFORMATION USED?

Newsletter and blog subscribers’ names and emails will only be used for receiving the newsletters, the blog, or communication from me.

Giveaway entrants will be sent emails only about the giveaway, unless they also signed up for the newsletter or blog.

Information on which email links are clicked on the most will help me choose links that interest readers in future emails.

I may use affiliate codes in some of the emails or on the site.

SHARING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

I use MailerLite to manage my email marketing subscriber list and to send emails to my subscribers. MailerLite is a third-party provider, which may process your data using industry-standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my newsletter. MailerLite’s privacy policy is available here. 

Subscriber information is never shared with a third party. The only exception is that email addresses may occasionally be used to create lookalike audiences for online marketing. This in no way distributes the emails or signs subscribers up to any other services.

SECURITY OF INFORMATION

All information is saved by Squarespace and MailerLite and only I can access it. Should a data breach ever occur, subscribers will be notified within 7 days.

ON WHAT LEGAL BASIS IS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION PROCESSED?

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful basis I rely on for processing this information is your consent. Your consent is given, for example, when you ask to subscribe to my newsletter or enter a giveaway.

Subscribers may unsubscribe at any time - just click on the unsubscribe link provided at the end of each newsletter. You may also ask for all your data to be deleted at any time - please contact me via the email address below.

HOW LONG WILL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION BE KEPT?

Your personal information will be kept for as long as you are a subscriber or in accordance with legal requirements if longer.

YOUR DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS

Under data protection law, you have the right:

  • to ask me for copies of your personal information.

  • to ask me to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask me to complete information you think is incomplete.

  • to ask me to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

  • to ask me to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

  • to ask that I transfer the personal information you gave me to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, I have one month to respond to you.

Sometimes I will include third-party links through email or on the website. These sites have their own policies and you should read those before subscribing or purchasing from them.

USE OF THE WEBSITE BY MINORS

All subscribers must be 18 or older or have the consent of a parent or guardian.

I may update this Privacy Policy at any time. I will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.

A notice about such changes will be emailed to subscribers.

You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this Privacy Policy periodically and become aware of modifications.

YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS

By visiting and using emilykoch.co.uk, you signify your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you can simply not use the site. Continued use of the site means you accept the policy and any periodic changes.
